Prerequisites to Learn SAP ABAP

Before starting your SAP ABAP journey, you don’t need to be an expert in programming or have any previous SAP experience. But knowing a little bit of programming basics can make your learning much easier. If you understand simple concepts like variables, loops, conditions, and functions, you will quickly get comfortable with ABAP coding.

It’s also helpful to have logical thinking and problem-solving skills because ABAP work usually involves handling data, applying business rules, creating reports, and building solutions for real scenarios. Having some basic idea of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) can also help—especially for modern ABAP used in S/4HANA and ABAP Cloud—but this is not mandatory for beginners.

A simple understanding of how businesses work is an added advantage. SAP is used in many areas like finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, and HR. So, if you know how these departments function, it becomes easier to understand SAP examples. But again, this is something you can easily learn along the way while learning ABAP.

Why I Chose SAP ABAP Training and Certification – My Personal Journey

 After completing my B.E. in Computer Engineering in 2024, I went through a phase where I was not sure which direction my career should take. I had some experience as Web Developer, but I wanted something more stable and meaningful. I kept hearing about SAP and how it powers the biggest companies in the world. The more I read, the more I felt that SAP could give me the long-term career path I was looking for—especially ABAP, which matched my interest in coding.

In June 2025, I finally decided to stop thinking and take action. I enrolled for SAP ABAP training, and my classes started in July 2025. From the first few sessions, I felt like I had made the right decision. Learning ABAP concepts like Internal Tables, Data Dictionary, ALV, Enhancements, and ABAP on HANA was challenging, but I really enjoyed every moment of it. I worked hard throughout my training and proudly completed it on 10th October 2025.

After finishing the course, I wanted to push myself further and prove what I had learned. So, I decided to go for the SAP ABAP Cloud certification. I revised every day, practised programs, and stayed focused. Finally, on 28th October 2025, I appeared for the exam. Passing it was a huge moment for me it helps to  boost my confidence and made me feel ready to step into the SAP world as a fresher.

Looking back, choosing SAP ABAP training and certification has been one of the best decisions of my life. It gave me direction, clarity, and a strong skill set that I am proud of. Today, I’m preparing for SAP ABAP fresher roles with more confidence and excitement for what the future holds.
